The main concept for this house was to create a high quality contemporary design with links to the traditional country house style. The house comprises of one main volume – resembling the traditional Irish house – intersected by smaller volumes with some contemporary features.

The strong curved element perforates the main volume, embracing and organising the overall layout. The full glazed wall facing south in the Living Room allows sun light to penetrate all year around in this space identified as the core of the house.

The house incorporates principles of Passive Design, a geothermal heat pump and a rainwater harvesting system.
