Welcome to the Team

With our growing number of enquiries comes a growing team, with this, on behalf of everyone here, we would like to welcome the newest member to the Isabel Barros architects team, Brian Kehoe.

Brian was born and raised in Wexford. Educated in Kilmore National School and Bridgetown Vocational College. It was during his early educational years where he developed a keen eye for construction and design. Finishing secondary school and enrolling in a construction architecture course before moving onto Waterford Institute of Technology to study Architecture Technology graduating in 2011.

Once graduated, Brian took his skills abroad moving to Australia. For 6 years Brian worked in Sydney, Darwin and Gold Coast working on and completing many projects across Australia from small residential projects to multi-unit developments. The below picture shows a finished construction project, just one of many multi-unit developments in Australia that Brian was heavily involved in, helping with the design layout and completing the drawings.

After Australia, it was time for a new challenge, setting his sights on Canada. This time Brian stepped out of the office into the cold mountain air, taking on a more hands-on approach working in the construction industry.

Brian has a passion for adventure photography and exploring taking himself to new heights with hiking. His love for the outdoors gives him the drive to work with more sustainable methods/materials, trying his best to impact the earth as little as possible.

With his international work and travel experience, Isabel Barros Architects believes Brian will be a great addition to the team and wish Brian a very warm welcome.

10 Interesting Facts About Our 10 Years in Business

1 – Our first client was a Priest. We must have been blessed since then.

2 – The longest project we ever had is still on site after starting 8 years ago. And we don’t regret it for one second.

3 – We tend to attract clients with a sense of spirituality. Maybe it’s because we take a holistic approach to every project. This normally leads to great projects and great relationships.

4 – We have had clients crying when we were presenting our ideas. And one that even wanted to frame our drawings to hang them on the wall.

5 – Our small (social media) logo was created during a “Start your own business” class.

6 – The two most unusual requests we had were: to integrate a collection of 10,000 music CDs in our design; and to completely sound proof a Master Bedroom. These two requests were not related!

7 – We have refused a number of requests to issue “Opinion on Compliance with Building Regulations” for jobs that we did not design or inspect on site. And we will continue to do it.

8 – We have 100% success rate in Planning Applications for New Dwelling Houses.

9 – The highest number of photos taken for one job was 2,747 (Conservation Works at Brandon House Hotel in Wexford).

10 – The most unusual thing we have done to a client was to lock him in the bathroom of our office! And this was done intentionally! There is a reason for everything, and no, it wasn’t because he didn’t want to pay us 😀 !

Isabel Barros Architects Celebrates 10th Anniversary

This year Isabel Barros Architects celebrates a decade of presence in the Wexford landscape. We setup in the height of the recession in 2010 and 10 years later we are now faced with the Covid-19 Pandemic and the prospects of a global recession. But we have built amazing resilience skills and we feel strong enough to continue for (at least) another 10 years.

We want to thank all our clients, consultants, contractors and suppliers for trusting us and helping us to create positive contributions while building great relationships.

The privilege of working with clients that trust us, respect our ideas, and let us push the limits when needed is immense and we are eternally grateful for this.

We are committed to the highest level of quality in all things and we will continue raising the bar every day.

Isabel’s 25 years of experience will continue to be an invaluable resource to deliver solid results.

During these last 10 years we have built the foundations for our future. As we enter our next decade, we will remain focused on the long term. That means removing the ineffective parts of our work, and aiming on what matters most so that we can do the work we love doing to the highest standard. We also plan to extend to different sectors but only if our core values can be pursued and respected.

We hope you enjoy the journey and that you’ll keep in touch along the way.
