The Crumbled Paper House is inspired by local rocks and their heaviness. We aimed to create a contrasting relationship by introducing volumes that look like crumbled paper.
In this extension to an existing house, lightness and sharpness are explored in the 3 new volumes while the existing gable wall is replicated at the back as if it has always been there.
Inside we played with the ceilings to achieve very unique light-filled spaces.
The proposed design turns a typical 1980s Irish bungalow into a contemporary composition ready to meet our clients’ lifestyle.
