Hill View Passive House
Location: Wexford, Ireland
Area: 233 sq.m.
Year: 2024
The design is strongly related to the surrounding landscape and the place, aiming to establish a strong relationship between the existing village landscape and the rural aspect of the site.
The design concept of the house draws inspiration from the undulating hills of Bree Hill, reflected in the varied roof heights and the layout of the external patio.
The house has been designed to address the various site constraints ensuring the maximization of solar gains and optimization of views. The design incorporates simple forms and proportions that integrate effectively into the suburban landscape of the village while harmonizing with the rural surroundings within the site itself.
The project’s aspirations include to build a low energy sustainable house guided by the Passive House Standard.
Passive Houses stay at a comfortable temperature year-round with minimal energy inputs. Such buildings are heated “passively”, making efficient use of the sun, internal heat sources and heat recovery so that conventional heating systems are rendered unnecessary throughout even the coldest of winters. As energy savings equals emissions reductions, the Passive House is a sustainable alternative to conventional construction.
