The Wells House is a Protected Structure and it is included in the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage (NIAH). It is rated as being of national importance and as being of architectural, artistic, historical and social significance.
Urgent works were deemed necessary to ensure the survival and safety of the Wells House. A phased approach was required due to financial restraints and the basement was initially prioritised.
Isabel Barros Architects was appointed to assess the internal and external condition of the basement and provide recommendations and alternative solutions to repair and conserve the building. Over 200 recommendations were provided during this first stage of the project.
